Koh Phai / Bamboo Island

Koh Phai, also known as Bamboo Island, is a true tropical escape and the largest of Pattaya’s islands. Located approximately 20 kilometers west of Pattaya, this stunning island stretches around 4 kilometers long and 1.4 kilometers wide, offering vast expanses of natural beauty and an atmosphere of complete seclusion.

Koh Phai is one of the further destinations, located around 15 nautical miles from Ocean Marina. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes each way (3 hours return cruising time). This island offers stunning clear waters and natural surroundings, ideal for full-day charters. Please note that a fuel surcharge may apply, and there is an island entrance fee payable separately.

Remarkably undeveloped, Koh Phai remains almost entirely untouched by modern construction. Aside from a small lighthouse and minimal Navy facilities, the island contains no permanent structures, allowing its pristine environment to remain preserved in its natural state. The island is owned and protected by the Royal Thai Navy, with personnel maintaining its immaculate white-sand beaches and safeguarding its fragile ecosystem. While the island is open to the public, a small conservation fee is required for visitors wishing to enjoy the beaches — this fee is typically not applicable for guests arriving by private yacht.

The eastern coastline of Koh Phai is particularly renowned for its exceptional snorkeling. Shallow, crystal-clear waters ranging from 4 to 8 meters in depth reveal vibrant coral gardens teeming with tropical fish and, on occasion, the graceful presence of sea horses. The excellent visibility and gentle conditions make this area ideal for both beginners and experienced snorkelers.

Although Koh Phai has grown in popularity in recent years, its size and varied coastline ensure that peaceful, uncrowded spots are always within reach.
